Chineham Park has been asked to inform everyone working on the Park using Cufaude Lane to be aware of the toads and the toad patrollers that will be operating over the next few weeks.
You may not be aware but Cufaude Lane is a major crossing point for amphibians migrating to their spawning ponds. Each year, during this short period of time, hundreds get squashed by the increasing traffic using this route.
Every evening for the next few weeks toad patrol volunteers will be out in Cufaude Lane to try and save as many as possible.
The patrollers would be grateful if drivers could be made aware of their presence and drastically reduce their speed during this period or alternatively take another route in the evenings. There will be signs and the police are aware.
